46,000 accusations about corruption are made to the Center,  majority  addressed at DFS

New Delhi, Sept 21 – According to the most recent official report, the Center received over 46,000 public complaints about corruption in the previous eight months of this year, the majority of which were directed at the Department of Financial Services (DFS).

According to the department’s 14,934 receipts this year, the Department of Financial Services’ banking section “got the most complaints under the aforementioned category of corruption.” “The Department of Financial Services’ (insurance division) meagre 3,306 receipts this year alone helped it secure second place.”

In response to the report, the Division of Personnel and Coaching (DoPT), the nodal authority for the anti-corruption problems, among others, received 2,223 similar grievances.

The CPGRAMS report suggests that for August 2022, there have been up to 46,627 complaints filed this year alone in the corruption category.

“The required deadline for resolving public complaints in CPGRAMS has been shortened from 45 to 30 days. On average, 19 lakh complaints have been filed on the CPGRAMS portal over the last five years, it said.

As per the report, the Division of Science and Expertise has received 1,831 public complaints, 1,784 of which are directed at the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India and 1,005 at the Division of Food and Public Distribution.

According to a pendency analysis, the DFS (financial division) has the most corruption class cases—1,088—pending resolution, while the Department of Wellbeing and Household Welfare has the most—260 complaints.

This same report even says that a total of 7,50,822 public complaints were filed between January 1 and August 25, 2022 (together with 68,528 that were already filed the previous year), of which 7,27,673 have been resolved and 91,677 are still outstanding.

According to the study, 2,157 of the total pending grievances have been open for more than a year; 10,662 for more than six months; 47,461 for more than 30 days; and 44,216 for less than 30 days.
