As a part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ a drone show will be held at Vijay Chowk in New Delhi. According to the Union Ministry, a thousand drones will light up the sky with a number of performances.
The news: This drone show which is being called ‘Beating Retreat’ will be the first ever of its kind to happen in the country. The show has been organized to commemorate the 75 years of Independence.
- A startup known as ‘Botlab Dynamics’ are the ones who came forward with this idea, while the presentation is supported by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi and the Department of Science and Technology. The 10-minute drone show has been conceptualized, choreographed, and produced by the Centre’s ‘Make in India’ initiative.
- Besides the drone show, several bands will also be performing in this event amongst which the first band will be Massed Band, which will be playing the ‘Veer Sainik’ tune. This performance will be followed by Pipes and Drums Band, CAPF Band, Air Force Band, Naval Band as well as Army Military Band. The principal conductor of the ceremony is Commander Vijay Charles D’Cruz.
What they’re saying: According to a release the ministry stated, “Martial musical tunes with Indian fervor will be the flavor of the ceremony this year. A total of 26 performances will enthral the spectators with foot-tapping music played by the bands of Indian Army, Navy, Air Force and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF),”.
- The last performance, which will close this event will be the popular tune of ‘Sare Jahan Se Acha’.
- During this event, which is scheduled on Saturday, President and Supreme Commander of the armed forces, Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will be among the many notable personalities at the event.
‘Beating Retreat’ is a centuries-old military custom, from the days when troops disengaged from the battle at sunset.
