In a bribery case, the Anti-Corruption Branch of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Chartered Accountant and GST Joint Commissioner.
The news: On receipt of a complaint from Shri Jayant Laxmikant Choupane, Contractor. Ws Jai Electricals & Electronics, District — Yavatmal alleging demand of bribe of Rs. 4,50,000/- as a motive, the CBI, ACB, Nagpur registered a case vide RC.04(A)/2022 on 03.03.2022 U/s 7 A of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 against Shri Hemant Rajandekar, Chartered By using corrupt and illegal tactics, CGST. Nagpur-2 has caused the dishonest performance of a public obligation.
What happened: Mukul Patil, Joint Commissioner, CGST, Nagpur-2, has issued a Show Cause Notice about the complainant’s service tax liability.
- The accused has demanded a bribe of Rs. 4,50,000/- in order to get the service tax liability case dismissed using corrupt and illegal ways.
What they said: “Both the accused persons have been caught red-handed while requesting and collecting the negotiated bribe sum of Rs. 4.00,000/- against the demanded bribe amount of Rs. 4,50,000/- from the complainant,” according to a CBI press release.
- The searches are taking place at the CA’s office as well as the accused public servant’s office and residence.” The accused will appear in Nagpur’s Court of Special Judge for CBI Cases.
