India saw a slight increase in the number of new cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), pushing the daily totals back above 30,000.
The news: According to a Union Health Ministry report released on Wednesday, the country’s total positive cases have now reached 42,723,558.
- In the previous 24 hours, 514 people have died across the country, bringing the total death toll to 5,09,872. In the last 24 hours, there have been 304 deaths in Kerala, with 130 backlogs.
- The number of active cases in the country has dropped to 3,70,240, down 52,887 instances in the last 24 hours, according to figures from the health ministry.
- India’s active infection level fell to 0.87 per cent of all infections. In the meantime, the daily positivity rate was 2.45 per cent, and the weekly positivity rate was 3.32 per cent.
- In the past one day, 82,988 persons have recovered from the viral illness, bringing the overall number of recoveries to 4,18,43,446. The recovery rate has already reached 97.94 per cent.
According to the government, India has provided more than 1.73 billion vaccine doses as part of the nationwide vaccination campaign, including more than four million doses in the last 24 hours. The number of precautionary or booster vaccination doses was 3,20,158, with another 13,75,027 vaccine doses given to people aged 15 to 18.
