Positivity rate of Vidarbha region decreases significantly

The Vidarbha region is seeing a downtrend in daily COVID-19 cases. The positivity rate of the region decreased significantly on Thursday giving a sigh-off relief to the health community.

The news: On Thursday 6,621 tests were conducted in the 11 districts of the region, and only 39 returned positive, taking test positivity rate (TPR) to only 0.58 per cent.

  • On the other hand, 120 patients recovered in region in the last 24 hours. Only one COVID-19 death was reported from outside Nagpur. The patient tested positive for COVID-19 in Nagpur while taking treatment here for pre-existing ailments.
  • Vidarbha’s caseload has reached 12,81,458, including 12,59,041 recoveries. The recovery rate is at 98.25 per cent.
  • With 21,768 total deaths reported till date, the case fatality rate is 1.69 per cent.
  • The Vidarbha region has 465 Active cases of which Nagpur district alone accounts for 211.
  • Nagpur district reported 25 new cases against 2,143 tests in the last 24 hours. Among the new COVID-19 cases, 16 were from Nagpur city, seven from rural areas and two from other state/divisions. Meanwhile 54 recoveries were reported in Nagpur district.
  • Yavatmal reported zero new cases from 489 test report. There are 18 active cases now. The city also reported five recoveries on Thursday.
  • Chandrapur also reported no new cases after 1,239 tests. With three new recoveries, active cases dropped to 20.
  • Wardha reported three new cases from 239 test reports and seven recoveries were reported on Thursday. There are 16 active cases.
  • Amravati reported only one new case after conducting 297 tests while four patients recovered. Active cases stand at 13.
  • In Akola, only three out of 202 tests conducted came positive. With seven new recoveries only 21 patients are under treatment.
  • Washim recorded one new case and nine recoveries on Thursday. Active cases stand at 17.
  • Buldhana reported four cases of 279 tests conducted, while 11 patients recovered. Now, 49 patients are under treatment.
  • Gondia reported no new case from all 150 tests. Two patients recovered in one day. Now, only five patients are under treatment, which is the least in Vidarbha.
  • Bhandara also reported only one new case out of 853 tests done. Two patients recovered, there are 22 active cases.
  • Gadchiroli reported one new case of the 519 tests, while 16 patients recovered. Now, the district has 73 patients under treatment.
