The Statue of Equality commemorating the 11th century Bhakti saint, Sri Ramanujacharya will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Saturday, in Hyderabad.
The news: PMO released a statement which read, Ramanujacharya promoted the idea of equality in all aspects of living. So to celebrate the 1000th birth anniversary of the saint a statue has been built of ‘panchloha’, meaning five metals.
- The metals include gold, silver, copper, brass and zinc.
- The statue will be one of the tallest metallic statues in the world.
What is happening: The inauguration will be a part of the 12-day celebration of Shri Ramanuja Sahasrabdi Samaroham.
- Modi will even inaugurate the 50th anniversary celebration of the International Crops Research Institute for Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), which will again be taking place in Hyderabad.
What are they saying: In a statement PMO also said that the facility of ICRISAT is dedicated to the small farmers of Asia and sub-Saharan Africa.
