Rajasthan Govt eases COVID-19 restrictions, allows public gatherings of up to 250 persons

Cops patrolling during night curfew

The Rajasthan government lifted restrictions in place to tackle the recent outbreak of the coronavirus sickness on Friday (COVID-19). With the pandemic crisis subsiding, the Ashok Gehlot-led administration relaxed the night curfew and allowed private and public gatherings of up to 250 persons. Previously, such gatherings as weddings were limited to a maximum of 100 persons.

The news: The updated restrictions will take effect on February 5, according to the government. A curfew is in effect in the state from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.

  • Religious institutions have been allowed to operate on a regular timetable, and devotee offerings will be permitted under the new standards.
  • Academic activities from class 10 to 12 resumed in the state from February 1. From February 10, classes 6 to 9 will reopen.

On Thursday, Rajasthan reported 8,073 COVID-19 cases and 22 deaths, bringing the total number of infections in the state to 12,29,134 and the death toll to 9,332. Currently, there are 59,513 active cases of the virus in the state.
