Russia starts shelling again, civilians trapped under rubbish

It can be clearly seen that the Russians have once again started shelling in many residential areas. This has once again put a halt on the movement of civilians who were trying to leave the country.

The News: Even after Russia proposed to have a ceasefire to let the civilians move out, the country is still attacking Ukraine, which is blocking safe escape routes.

  • However, after learning that several routes, which are un-attacked, would only transport civilians to Russia or its partner Belarus, Ukraine dubbed the scheme “immoral”.

What’s going on: At the weekend, two ceasefire attempts in Mariupol, where people are running out of food, failed.

  • Despite Russian bombardment, some 2,000 people have been able to evacuate Irpin, which is located north-west of Kyiv.
  • Officials in Ukraine claim that Russia is bombing civilian targets throughout the nation, including hospitals, nurseries and schools.
  • However, Russia denies targeting civilians, claiming that it is engaged in a “special military operation” against “nationalists” and “neo-Nazis” in Ukraine.

What are they saying: Zelensky in a rageful comment said, everyone who commits atrocities against Ukraine’s population will be punished.

  • He said that Ukrainians would never forgive or forget, and he accused invading Russian forces of murder.
  • “There will be no tranquil spot for you on this planet. With the exception of the cemetery,” remarked the president on Monday.
  •  After “strong opposition” from the Ukrainian army, Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister Olha Stefanishyna told the BBC that Russia launched an “enormous operation” against civilians.
